Block Party will include a peek in “Myers Store”

The Town of Pownal is throwing a Block Party June 20, 2-6 pm on Center Street. The Pownal Historical Society is joining in, offering a display at the PHS History Center (bottom floor at the back of Town Hall facing the Skate Park) about the historic buildings and homes on Center Street. Kids can also do a scavenger hunt about the history of the street, which is on the Vermont Register of Historic Places. The old general store on the street, once called the Myers Store, was just sold. The new owner reportedly will open it up for the curious to peek inside, where it looks much like it did 50 years ago. The yellow 1793 house down the street also will be open.
