The Fourth Annual Witches Walk will be Saturday, Sept. 12. Each year we remember Margaret Krieger, the widow who neighbors called “exceptional,” legend says. She was accused of witchcraft, perhaps only because she was strong and resilient, the stories say. She was thrown into the Hoosic River, and once again, she prevailed. She wasn’t a witch. But we walk as witches as a fun way to honor her memory. The popular event, put on by the Pownal Historical Society, will feature dancing witches, live music, food, guest speakers, and more.
